Ernest Morales Tonda

Ernest is an Associate at MCL Arbitration since April 2022. He specialises in international arbitration, with a focus on commercial and investor-state disputes and is admitted to the Paris and Barcelona Bars.

He has experience working as counsel and administrative secretary in cases under ICC, ICSID, SIAC and UNCITRAL rules, in proceedings governed by a wide range of procedural and substantive laws, both in common and civil law in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese. He has experience in the banking, construction, and energy sectors, among others. Before joining MGC, he practiced in the Paris and London offices of renowned international firms. Prior to coming to Paris, he was an associate in a top-tier firm in Spain.

He is a lecturer at ESADE Law School (Master of International Business Law) and has also been the university’s Coach for the Willem C Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot since 2017. He has authored several published articles and organized events in the field of arbitration.

Ernest is co-chair of the Paris Very Young Arbitration Practitioners (PVYAP) organization. He is also is a member of several professional associations, including ICCYAF (Young Arbitrators Forum – International Chamber of Commerce), Young ICCA (International Council for Commercial Arbitration), Young ITA (Institute of Transnational Arbitration) the Sciences Po Arbitration Society or ESADE Alumni.

Ernest holds a degree in Law and a Double Masters in International Business Law and Access to the Legal Profession from ESADE Law School, as well as an LL.M. in International Arbitration from Sciences Po. He has also completed the Latin American International Arbitration Course from the Geneva Centre for International Dispute Settlement and the Faculty of Law of the University of Buenos Aires.

He is a native Spanish speaker and fluent in English, French, Portuguese and Catalan.
